Is it just me or did this whole month fly by in a blink of an eye? I know “normal” is the last word to describe this year, but normally September seems to stick around a little bit longer than this. But nevertheless, this month was still packed full of adventure. Here’s a short recap:
I started the month off by preparing my son for 3rd-grade e-learning. We made the best of online school shopping by preparing a work station in his bedroom and ordering matching headphones and a wireless mouse. During his 15 minute breaks, we try and squeeze in a quick round of a card game or chess. Plus, he gets to order anything he wants for lunch! No complaints from him there.

I was able to check out the latest plant shop in town: Parks Place Plants, located in Spokane Valley. When I arrived I was greeted by Loki, the owner‘s rescue husky who is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. Here’s a time-lapse of me replanting my plant before realizing my new pot was too small. Find out how to create the best time-lapse videos here.
September is the first month of fall and harvest is in full effect over here. I have a little vegetable garden and have been using the crops in a variety of ways. I’ve made a few vegetable sushi rolls, salsas, soups, and salads in an attempt to not let anything go to waste. It’s taken some creativity and planning, but I did not put all those hours into my garden for nothing! Plus, homegrown organic produce is so much tastier than storebought.

Speaking of harvest, September is the final month of huckleberry season so I had to pop into Little Euro while they were still serving up their huckleberry goodies. I also was able to try their mimosa flight for the first time. What a taste of summer! Fresh bright flavors like passion fruit, watermelon, and of course, huckleberry. I’ll have to swing back in again soon for some of their famous pumpkin donuts and apple cider mimosa. In the meantime, I'm still in awe of my end of summer meal.

Moving towards the end of the month, I had the chance to participate in a giveaway for Liberty Lake Juice Company's Grand Reopening! The classic Bee's Knees Cocktail Kit was up for grabs along with many other prizes from local businesses. Both 92.9 ZZU and 93.7 The Mountian were there giving out freebies such as shirts and facemasks and LLJC was giving out samples of their delicious menu items such as avocado toast, smoothies, and fresh-pressed juices. If you haven't checked them out, you have to give them a try.
Later that day, my family and I were celebrating my sister's birthday, and what better way than with cake?! I ordered the "sugar mama" from Breaüxdoo Bakery, part of a newly launched cake line. I'm not kidding when my whole family said it was the best cake they ever had. Good thing it was so tasty because it was almost too pretty to eat! I mean look at that thing.

My son and I also got some fall photos taken by Honey & Lemon Imagery that are absolutely stunning. I am so in love with these! They are currently booking fall mini sessions so check out her page here to book.
Tonight I made chili and cornbread for dinner and am getting ready to get the Halloween decor out. We've already watched Tim Burton's "Nightmare Before Christmas" four times and don't plan on slowing down anytime soon. There's something just so special about this time of year, that not even a pandemic can break all the traditions.
